We had a great time at the Carolina Pit Masters School this year. The class was relatively small, but the small class gave us a great opportunity for much more one on one with students. We cooked on 2 Alverons, a Tucker, a Stumps stretch, a WSM 22, a Russell Wright, and a Superior. All the cookers ran great, even in the thunderstorm.

I would like to take an opportunity to publically thank a few folks. Top of the list would have to be my wife Mary who works hard to make sure we get loaded in and out with ease, and works her tail off keeping me in line. Thanks to Russ and Kristen Cornette who work hard with the segments, and help make the decisions on class content, time lines, and are great company at planning meetings. Thanks Garland and Rebecca Hudgins who are always there, year after year. Garland keeps the class moving forward and does the backyard segment, Becca coordinates the SCBA piece. Thanks go to John Haney, who even under doctors care, showed up to support the cause and work with his cookers to make sure everything was OK. I considered it an honor to sub in for his segment.

A huge thanks to the Support team. Mike and James Fields, Matt Gamble, Seth Watari, Doug Quinn, Jim Harmon, Levi, Phil Wingo, Buzz Dean, Kristina Youngblood, Al Fulmer and of course all of the SCBA judges.

Cameo appearances by Dennis Jarrett, Bobby Cook and Bill West.

Most of all I would like to thank the students this year. It was a special class for me, I hope it was just as special for them.

    Remember to support the sponsors!

    Good Q!

Armond with the Post & Courier should run his story in next Thursday's "Your Lowcountry" section for the Summerville area. I'll be sure to pick up a few copies.
