I am wanting to build a whole hog rack for an existing cooker I have. Can someone going to Edgefield or somewhere that is doing hog get some measurements for me? I need the total length, width to the widest part or the leg nubs, the width in the middle (waist) and thickness. These measurements are to be made with the hog spread eagle on it's back. I know there are some variables but I need some where to start.
Thanks for any help some one can give me!

Charles, I'm cooking a whole hog this weekend at Monk's Corner and I'll send my hog's measurements and respective weight. I mention weight since from experience I know a 142# hog will not fit onto a 30" deep rack; you have to break its leg/stub. If possible, meaning that the other cooks don't mind, I'll get measurements off several hogs.

    I'll get back with you,

    Seth Cool

    Charles:

My hog this weekend weighed 129 lbs and measured: 43" long, 33" at the hams, 33" at the shoulders, 22" at the belly and 4 1/2" thick. I did measure two additional hogs and their dimensions are: weight 113 lbs, 43" long, 28" at he hams, 34 inches at the shoulders, 21" at the belly and 4 inches thick; the final hog weighed in at 133 lbs and measureed 43" long, 28" at the hams, 34" at the shoulders, 21" at the nelly and was also 4" thick.

    Hope this helps,

    Seth Cool
